What to pack to Ifrane in Winter

Your winter Ifrane packing list starts with one rule: pack warm. Ifrane in winter is magical: snow-dusted chalets, steaming mint tea, and the rare thrill of seeing Morocco completely blanketed in white. But it is genuinely cold, with temperatures regularly dropping below freezing at night. Packing light here is not an option.

The spring Ifrane packing list is all about layers and comfortable shoes. Spring is arguably Ifrane’s finest season,  the forests turn a vivid green, wildflowers appear along the roadsides, and Dayet Aoua Lake fills up and reflects the sky like a mirror. Temperatures are mild during the day, though mornings and evenings still carry a chill that catches many visitors off guard.

  • Light jacket or fleece.
  • Layerable tops.
  • Comfortable walking shoes.
  • Light rain jacket.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Small daypack.
  • Camera or phone.

Spring is perfect for hiking the cedar forest and exploring Ifrane National Park. Comfortable, broken-in walking shoes are essential. The forest trails can be uneven and muddy after rain.

What to pack to Ifrane in Summer

Your summer Ifrane packing list is lighter, but never skip the cardigan. While the rest of Morocco bakes in intense heat, Ifrane stays refreshingly cool, with daytime temperatures hovering around 25°C.

That’s one of the main reasons Moroccan families flock here in July and August. But don’t be fooled into packing only summer clothes,  evenings cool down fast.

A note on modesty: Ifrane is a relatively conservative mountain town. Light, breathable clothing that covers your shoulders and knees is both culturally respectful and practically comfortable for the climate.

The autumn Ifrane packing list is our personal favorite to put together. Autumn is Ifrane’s best-kept secret, the cedar forest turns amber and gold, the summer crowds disappear, and the weather sits in a perfect sweet spot. Warm enough to explore comfortably, cool enough to feel alive. It’s the season that turns first-time visitors into regulars.

Autumn packing list:

  • Mid-weight jacket.
  • Layerable clothing.
  • Waterproof layer.
  • Hiking boots or trail shoes.
  • Light scarf.
  • Sunscreen & sunglasses.
